Alamo Iron Chef VI: A Street Car Named Desire
The Alamo chefs take on the chefs from Parkside Austin!  Tickets are $80 – each audience member enjoys 4 dishes from each team (8 dishes in all!) paired with 4 wine courses.  While dining sit back and watch the classic movie “A Street Car Named Desire,” then vote at the end of the show on which chef team you think deserves the title!

Holy crap. Not only did 1999 give birth to almost all of the pop music of the next ten years by giving us Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time” and Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way,” but the cheese element was in full effect with the Goo Goo Dolls, rap was awesome with “Back That Ass Up” AND Will Smith’s “Wild Wild West” AND Jay-Z’s “Can I Get A…”

Fundraising/Socializing:
***Comdedy, Fun Fundraiser at Emerald City for OutYouth***
OutYouth is celebrating 20 years of service to LGBTQ youth in the Central Texas area, and will be hosting the first of several events in 2010 to celebrate the occasion. Comedy, lots of fun and entertainment at Emerald City (next to Rusty Spur) on Jan. 22 will kick off the activities for the year of celebrations. Performers include: The Stone Family, Allie Rolison, Mocha Jean Herrup, and Lisa Geduldig. Tickets are $20 at the door.

SATURDAY, Jan. 23rd:

Homo Revolution:
***Equality Project Training***
The Equality Project is a public education program on policy issues and their effect on Texas citizens.  The Project also trains participants to establish relationships with their state representatives and senators, and to advocate for policy changes with their elected officials.  The Equality Project aims to engage the public in maintaining continuous conversations with their elected officials about matters of public policy that are directly impacting constituents’ lives.  It is these conversations about real people’s lives that will ultimately motivate policy change to eliminate discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.  LEARN more about LGBT family issues, workplace nondiscrimination, hate crimes, bullying and harassment, public accommodations, and other pertinent issues.

Running the Sahara – Benefit Screening
In anticipation of the 3M Half-Marathon & Relay, we’re teaming up with the local heroes and heroines at Community in Schools to present this special “carbo load” brunch screening of the incredible documentary RUNNING THE SAHARA!  Not only will you receive admission plus help support an important local program, but your $15 includes two carb loaded breakfast tacos (potato, egg & cheese tacos with or without chorizo), and one regular fountain soda or iced tea!
