This year’s 2^nd Annual East 6^th Pub Crawl is next Saturday, July 17^th, and is expected to be bigger and better. Last year over 250 people attended this outrageous lesbian-dominant crawl, but we’ve got more venues to hit up, and more shenanigans to partake in, including:

This event will help send Softball Austin’s Women’s Division team, Blind Sided, to their quest of victory at the ASANA World Series in Las Vegas. What’s even cooler is that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Texas Mamma Jamma Breast Cancer Bike Ride in September (www.mammajammaride.org).

Yes the reference to Lady Gaga couldn’t be more perfect, since this party is truly going to be different. Girl-on-girl… boy-on-boy… girl-on-boy… all are welcome. It’s not a lesbian takeover, per se, but an infusion. No one’s checked at the door. It’s a whole new vibe.

Get a view of the city at LANAI on 5^th Congress while you shake it for the crowd. It’s a pretty cool venue if you haven’t been before. Live DJs will be spinning it for you—Luis Ramirez, Filthy Rich and Silver will be in rotation.

And of course, the always magnetic bartender Jessica Wimpy will be hooking us up at DISCOSTICK with $3 wells and frozen drinks (ooh la la!) and $2.50 beers. The ladies love their Wimpy, yes they do!

And if you miss it this Sunday, I’ve got news for ya—it’s happening EVERY SUNDAY! Goldstar Promotions is giving us something to look forward to every week from 9pm – 2am. And there’s no cover, either!

Here’s a run down on a few of the great dog parks around Austin. If you’re new to town, you’ll be amazed at how many dog-friendly parks you can start exploring. And if you and Fido have been here awhile, you probably have a favorite, no doubt!

Also, mark your calendars for this Sunday to join the Austin Lesbian Coffee House Meetup to stretch your legs on a hike at Turkey Creek for dogs (and the women who love them). So far at least 22 women are planning to the Emma Long Park area for this fun excursion– so you and Fido shouldn’t miss it! Click here for details.

Auditorium Shores – 920 W. Riverside Dr 78704
This is the most popular of the dog parks, this big park along the shores of Town Lake downtown offer big fields for running and lots of water for doggy paddling. For the uber-social dog, this is the place to play. If you’re into jogging with your dog, it’s also a great place to start your run.

Emma Long Metropolitan Park - 1600 City Park Rd
If you and your pooch like hiking, Emma Long (otherwise known as Turkey Creek) is perfect for both of you. Enjoy a 3.5 mile trail through the lush Hill Country woods, with a few streams along the way to cool your pups off.

Bull Creek – 6701 Lakewood Dr 78731
A great park off the 360 Capital of Texas Hwy, it’s great for picnics while your pups run and play. There’s a creek that runs through the middle of the park, so if there’s no drought, it’s the ideal wet place for your four-legged friend to play!

Red Bud Isle - 3401 Red Bud Trail 78746
This has to be one of my favorites. Is your dog a swimmer? If so, this perfect little doggy island is surrounded by water, serving as a natural fence-free barrier for those dogs that like to explore in the woods then go for a swim to cool off. One of the best Austin has to offer!

Zilker Park - 2100 Barton Springs Rd 78746
This is one of those parks where your pup could run it’s little legs off for what seems to be miles! This huge expansive park doesn’t have much for trees, but the soccer fields are zoned for leash-free fun so there’s plenty of open area for frisbee tossing and fun.

Walnut Creek – 12138 N. Lamar 78753
A great park for both of you to get exercise, this park has lots of winding trails that cross the water in several places, and you’ll see lots of joggers and mountain bikers enjoying the area, too.

Georgetown Bark Park - 151 Holly Street
Live up north? This shady park is entirely fenced in and perfect for chilling. Plenty of water stations, benches, and even has a separate small dog section!

So what to do after you hit up the park? Grab at bite to eat at any of these dog-friendly local restaurants. Don’t you just love Austin? Woof!

Vain Salon will be hosting a blowout party benefiting the relief for Haiti this Saturday at 4pm. Nothing like a party in the afternoon.  There will be music, beer, and raffle—a dare you to stay home watching TV instead. Lots of musical fun included, like The Triggerman, Love Collector, The Strange Attractors and DJ Yosemite and Team Fabrication.

I know.  When you think of SXSW you either think a) YES!! Crowds of people, booze, extremely loud music, late nights and craziness…or  b) BOO!! Crowds of drunk people taking over my city and filling it with craziness.

Either way you think about it – I’ve got just the right thing for you!  It’s called bMUSEd Music Fest and it’s an ALL FEMALE music showcase that takes place at Sister’s Edge II on Saturday March 20th!  It’s pretty much an all day event – we’ve got bands playing from 1:30 in the afternoon to 10:30 at night!

Last year bMUSEd Music Fest was a HUGE!  Over 500 ladies showed up to Rainbow Cattle Company to hang out, drink some beers (or red bulls), and listen to GREAT music! 

This year it will be even BIGGER and BETTER!  So, if you’re looking for a music showcase to attend during SXSW where you don’t have to wait in a ridiculously long line for a wrist band and then have to wait even longer for a drink…come down to our neighborhood lesbian bar where everyone’s a friend!
